Arrival at Luxor airport or railway station, where a Merit Amun representative meets you and drives you to your 5-star Nile cruise ship for check-in. In the afternoon you visit the Karnak Temple complex, dedicated to the god Amun-Ra, and walk through the Great Hypostyle Hall with its 134 giant columns. Then continue to Luxor Temple on the East Bank, built in the New Kingdom and dedicated to the Theban triad of Amun, Mut and Khonsu. Karnak and Luxor Temple are linked by the Avenue of Sphinxes. Dinner on board, followed by an oriental music evening. Overnight on board in Luxor.
Breakfast on board, then cross to the West Bank of Luxor. Visit the Valley of the Kings, burial place of the New Kingdom pharaohs, the terraced Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, and the Colossi of Memnon. Lunch on board as the ship sets sail south, passing through the lock at Esna on the way to Edfu. Dinner and overnight on board.
After breakfast, a horse carriage takes you to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, the best-preserved temple in Egypt. Back on board for lunch while the ship sails to Kom Ombo. In the late afternoon visit the riverside Temple of Kom Ombo, a rare double temple dedicated to Sobek, the crocodile god, and Horus the Elder. Continue sailing to Aswan. Dinner and overnight on board.
Breakfast on board, then visit Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis and reached by a short motorboat ride, and the Unfinished Obelisk in the ancient granite quarries. In the afternoon take a felucca to the Botanical Garden on Kitchener’s Island. Optional: a Nubian village visit or the Philae sound and light show in the evening. Dinner and overnight on board in Aswan.
Breakfast on board and check-out. Our representative transfers you to Aswan airport or railway station for your onward journey. You can also add an optional Abu Simbel day trip before you leave.
